I. Introduction
A knuckle jar is used combined with running tools and other equipment by operators to transmit effective jarring forces up and down. The knuckle jar is similar in design to the knuckle joint. However, the knuckle jar design incorporates a length extension at the socket that allows the ball to move vertically for light jarring.

III. Structural features and use:
The structure of knuckle jar is simple and useful, which is mainly composed of upper contact, outer barrel, ball not and lower contact. Both top and bottom has screwed joints connected with other tools and they can rotate freely, but the length of stroke and jarring force are small usually.
